Pastor’s Column
FR. TERRENCE GORDON, RIP
On Friday evening, Fr. Terrence Gordon, FSSP, suffered a heart attack and died shortly thereafter. He was fifty-two years old. Thanks God he was promptly attended by his brother, Fr. James Gordon, FSSP, who was able to administer to him the Last Rites before he died.
Fr. Terrence was one of three Gordon brothers who was ordained a priest for the FSSP, in addition to Fr. James Gordon and Fr. Dennis Gordon. Frs. James & Terrence have both been assigned to our parish in Colorado Springs for the past few years. Providentially, Fr. Terrence also was able to spend some time with his brother Fr. Dennis before his death.
Fr. Terrence Gordon was ordained to the priesthood on June 3, 2006, at the age of thirty-five. Prior to joining the seminary, he was enlisted with the marines for some years. He was blessed with a combination of good cheer and true grit, and was especially well known for his gentle and loving care of the sick and the dying. He will be dearly missed by his brother priests.
This upcoming Thursday, we will offer Requiem Masses for the repose of the soul of our brother priest. The evening Mass will be solemn with catafalque. I invite all parishioners to attend one of the Masses that day and ask you please to remember Fr. Gordon and his family in your prayers.
