Chesterton Society Meeting (Click for details)
May 16, 2023 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm
Easter Blessings to you all!
Wow! I hoped you all enjoyed yesterday’s Annual Chesterton BBQ as much as I did. Plenty of food and libations to go around. If you went home hungry, you have no one to blame but yourself. I’m already looking forward to the next annual BBQ. Alex, you did an awesome job grilling all that meat. You’re the Master!
And I think it’s about time I sent out the details for our May meeting:
The usual time, the usual place.
The movable part is May 16.
Readings, Chapter 10 of the Autobiography – Friendship and Foolery
Essay #1 – On Gargoyles
Essay #2 – The Fading Fireworks
The essays are both pretty short, and the chapter from the Autobiography is more lengthy. The Autobiography tells about rowdy and wild times he had with some notable people in the period leading up to the Great War. Interesting reminiscences, and we’ll see where it goes in our discussion. The essays are short but more Chestertonian in the sense that he circles around his subject until the end when he focuses in on his point.
