October 10, 2023 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm
Location: Classroom 2 or 3 (at St. Stephen the 1st Martyr Parish)
October Readings:
- From Chesterton’s Autobiography, Chapter XV, The Incomplete Traveler
- In addition we will discuss his essays On Architecture and On Shakespeare, from a collection of his Illustrated London News articles, Generally Speaking. The two essays are also in the book In Defense of Sanity. They start on pages 144 and 149.
In other news, October is the month of our Special Chesterton Event at St. Stephen’s with Dale Ahlquist and Joseph Pearce on Saturday evening, October 14. The topic of the evening’s talks will be Faith and Fairy Stories. Here’s a great little snippet:
“The more truly we can see life as a fairy tale, the more clearly the tale resolves itself into war with the dragon who is wasting fairyland.”
—G. K. Chesterton, The New Jerusalem
Tickets to the Chesterton Event will be sold after Sunday Masses beginning 9/24. There will be beautiful gift baskets ups for auction in the courtyard next to the ticket sales table.
If you would love to have dinner with Joseph Pearce and Dale Ahlquist, and our own Fr. Curtis, here is your opportunity! We will be taking bids in a silent auction at the ticket table. The 16 highest bidders will be attending a private dinner party with our esteemed guests on Friday October 13th.
