Sacramento Chesterton Society Meeting

January 14, 2020 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm

We plan to discuss chapters 20-22 of “The Flying Inn” ~ wrapping up the final chapters of the book at our February meeting. In March we begin discussion of our next Chesterton work, which is “The Man Who Was Thursday.”

If you need to purchase “The Man Who Was Thursday” please see Tish Gallagher at the St. Stephen’s bookstore.

As today is the Feast of the Holy Family, we leave you with this quote from G.K.:

“Of course the family is a good institution because it is uncongenial. It is wholesome precisely because it contains so many divergences and varieties. It is…like a little kingdom, and, like most other little kingdoms, is generally in a state of something resembling anarchy….Aunt Elizabeth is unreasonable, like mankind. Papa is excitable, like mankind. Our youngest brother is mischievous, like mankind. Grandpapa is stupid, like the world; he is old, like the world.” (Heretics, 1950)

“Christianity has not been tried and found wanting; it has been found difficult and left untried.”
– G. K. Chesterton, What’s Wrong with the World
