Chant Camp 2024
Eighth Annual Chant Camp at St. Stephen’s!
Children ages 8-18 are welcome to join us August 7-9, 2024 for a summer Chant Camp at St. Stephen the First Martyr Parish in Sacramento. All participants will learn about good singing technique, the history and theory of Gregorian chant, and the importance of beautiful liturgy. This program is open to parishioners and non-parishioners alike.
Schedule
Wednesday, August 7: 8:30 AM to 12:00 PM
Thursday, August 8: 8:30 AM to 12:00 PM
Friday, August 9: 8:30 AM to 12:00 PM
All participants are then encouraged to stay and sing a 12:00 PM High Mass on Friday, which is the Vigil of St. Laurence.
Snacks and drinks will be provided to all campers during our scheduled breaks.
Faculty
Camp sessions will be taught by Mr. Keven Smith, our parish music director, as well as Ms. Rebekah Kasak and Ms. Daisy Rangel, who are both longtime members of the St. Stephen’s Choir, accomplished organists, and students at Thomas Aquinas College in Santa Paula, California.
Fees
We ask for a contribution of $25 for one child, or $50 for two or more children in the same family. You may pay fees in the parish bookstore or on the first day of Chant Camp (payable to St. Stephen the First Martyr Parish). A limited number of scholarships may be available to families for whom this fee poses a hardship.
Registration
Please register no later than Friday, August 2. Any registrations received after that date will be placed on a waiting list and admitted if there is space available in the camp.
