Apostolic Visitation (Feb 15-17) – At the end of the summer, the Dicastery for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life signaled its intention to conduct an apostolic visitation of the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Peter (FSSP). As the Prefect of this Dicastery himself made clear to the Superior General and his assistants during a meeting in Rome, this visit does not originate in any problems of the Fraternity, but is intended to enable the Dicastery to know who we are, how we are doing and how we live, so as to provide us with any help we may need. A small number of FSSP parishes in each district or province have been selected to receive the visitators to facilitate their mission. Therefore, this February 15 – 17, our parish will be hosting the Most Rev. Diarmuid Martin, Archbishop Emeritus of Dublin, Ireland and the Most Rev. Bernard-Nicolas Jean-Marie Aubertin, O. Cist., Archbishop Emeritus of Tours, France. I have obtained very few details regarding the particulars of their visit, but as the majority of their stay will be on Sunday, February 16, I expect many parishioners will have opportunity to greet the archbishops between Masses. While introducing yourself to them, the proper address to them would be Your Grace. I am hoping someone might lend the rectory a relatively straightforward espresso machine during their stay.
