On Sat, Oct 30 from 5:00-9:00 pm at St. Stephen’s parish hall, there will be a wine and cheese social hour followed by live presentations on two of G. K. Chesterton’s epic poems. Dale Ahlquist will talk on “The Ballad of the White Horse” (King Alfred’s battle against the invading Danes, and Our Lady’s strong help). Christopher Check, president of Catholic Answers, will give an historical account of the battle of Lepanto and will recite Chesterton’s “Lepanto”. This Oct 7 marks the 450th anniversary of the battle of Lepanto. Ticket sales will begin Sun, Oct 10 after all Masses, provided the health situation in the parish starts to calm down.
