Sacramento Chesterton Society Meeting
January 11, 2022 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Hello everyone and a very Merry Christmas to you all!
This Christmas has been very eventful for us, here in the foothills. Two days after Christmas (the Third Day of Christmas) we received a huge snowstorm which knocked out our power for three days, brought down trees and limbs across our road and, since we are on a privately maintained road, snowed us in for several days. As a Chestertonian, I am bound to say it has been an adventure; but in all honesty, I’m ready for less adventure (i.e., less inconvenience) and ready for a little more boredom. Now that it’s all over, it’s much easier to look back on it as an adventure, although it wasn’t so easy at the time.
And I am ready for a new Chesterton book. Last month we finished our reading of Orthodoxy, this month we will start reading his novel The Ball and the Cross. For our January meeting on the 11th let’s read the first three chapters – A Discussion Somewhat in the Air, The Religion of the Stipendiary Magistrate, and Some Old Curiosities.
Our meeting will be the same time, same place – St. Stephen’s on January 11 after the 6 pm Mass in classroom 2.
